the logomania trend.
The logo mania trend is here and it probably won’t be fading away anytime soon. As generation Z grows older, they continue to impact fashion more and more every season. Kim Jones broke barriers by bringing together high end and streetwear by collaborating Louis Vuitton and Supreme during the LV men’s fall winter 2017 collection.
This infusion was revolutionary because it was the first time we saw the two most successful brands in high end and streetwear combining to curate the ultimate hypebeast's dream. It also was the first time we saw a classic American skateboarding label on a Parisian runway.
According to major Supreme reseller @SolestreetSneakerCo, the Supreme x LV drop was the most hyped and profitable collection release of all time!!! Want to know what happens after a brand generates a profitable trend? Others copy. During the women’s spring summer 2019 fashion month this past September, we saw many companies follow in Mr. Jones's footsteps. Here are just a couple of examples.
Kith x Versace:
Fendi x Fila:

Now, why is this logo mania trend doing so well? Why are people paying thousands of dollars for a shirt with a brand name on it? In this day in age “flexing on Instagram” is one of the main motivating factors; because how will anyone know that you are rich and have $2,000 to spend on a hoodie if it doesn’t have an expensive logo plastered on it? How will you get likes and gain followers without wearing desirable clothing? This mentality has driven company’s such as Fendi, Versace and Louis Vuitton to start putting their logos on everything. Even collaborating with streetwear labels to keep up with what is selling and pumping out the highest revenue; because at the end of the day all we really care about is money…. right?
